Spiffy, the creator of the webcomic Anthem has this to say:

I just wanted to say that the "peepin ain't easy" t-shirt has climbed the wardrobe ranks and made it to the exhaulted status of "favorite t-shirt".

Commisions FAQ

Is Harknell accepting Web Development commissions?

Yes, Harknell is available to help you with your Website or Computer related issue. The best way to get info on this is to use our contact form to inquire further and schedule your work.

Is Onezumi accepting art commissions? I want her to draw something for me!

Commissions are handled on a case by case basis. Since you are paying for experience and quality, this is not cheap. It depends on the cost of the art materials, how complex the piece is and how long it will take.

Onezumi does not always have the time to take on a commission due to a heavy workload. If you have a special deadline, it is best to give early warning so that she may be able to accommodate you.

What can I order and how much does it cost?

Its hard to say without knowing specifically what you want. The following are basic estimates ONLY and subject to change depending on the specific job.

8.5 x 11 Pencil Sketch: $40.00+ A basic, clean sketch. One character or object.

8.5 x 11 Digitally Inked Sketch: $75.00+ Crisp inked art. One character or object.

8.5 x 11 Finished Inked and Colored CG Art: $200.00+ One completely inked, shaded and colored character or object.

8.5 x 11 Finished Inked and Colored CG Art with Detailed Background: $300.00+ One completely inked, shaded and colored character or object with a detailed background.

I want her to do something not listed (Club flyer, wedding invitation, acetate cell with accompanying sketch, etc.). Can that be arranged?

Possibly. Email us the details.

How long will it take?

Completion time varies depending on Onezumi’s current workload, how effectively you communicate with her, and what exactly you want her to do. Normally it should not exceed 8 weeks. This will be specifically discussed before you make payment, and she will keep you updated on the status while she is working on it. We take pride in our efficiency and communication.

What are the shipping rates?

In the USA, we ship priority mail with delivery confirmation. For 8x10's, shipping and handling adds $5.00 to the total cost.

If you would like to add insurance, it is $1.10 per every $50.00 of value. We take great care packaging and mailing your art and there is almost never a problem with the delivery of it. However we cannot control or be responsible for lost or damaged work that is not our fault.

What do I need to tell her when I am commissioning a piece?

Describe the character or scene with as much detail as possible. If the subject is a character from mythology, provide her with pictures and information on the character. If there is a specific style you would like it drawn in, please provide examples of this.

The wrong way to do this: “Hi I want you to draw me in anime style.” Or “Hi I want you to draw me in a goth style.”

The right way: “Hi, I’d like to be drawn in an anime style similar to Yuu Watase’s style. Here are some pictures of her work for reference.” Or, “Hi, I’ d like this to be drawn in a dark, goth style. Enclosed are some pictures of the style I am referring to. I’d like the background to be like in the second drawing, but the character like the first. I want her wearing the outfit in the third picture.“

How does the commission process work?

Sketches: This is just a basic, clean finished sketch. We do not normally send it to you for approval, since the sketch is the only step in the process. You can request the ability to revise it in advance, however since this affects the work time it also affects the price.

Inked Sketches: You will be emailed a low resolution version of the rough sketch to approve before she proceeds with the inking.

Finished Colored CG Art: You will be emailed a low resolution version of the rough sketch to approve before she proceeds inking and coloring.

What will get me rejected from the commission queue?

1. Gratuitously overblown internet shorthand and L33T speak. Its her job to draw for you, not figure out what you are trying to communicate to her. Do not send emails that resemble, “OmGLOL OneZUmi plz rite me a dwing I g0tz da MUNY. Ur drawinz so good lol”. You most likely will not get a response.

2. DO NOT EMAIL IN ALL CAPS LIKE THIS. For the same reasons as above.

3. Do not ask her to draw you anything that glorifies racism, or anything illegal.

4. Onezumi cannot draw somebody else's copywritten characters without written permission from the copyright holders. (i.e. Disney, Gainax, Marvel Comics.) However if you would like a manga cartoon of somebody cosplaying dressed in a Sailor Moon-inspired outfit, that is possible.

Once I have the image I can do whatever I want with it, right?

No. In general this is nearly never true. Commissioning a piece does not mean that you now own the exclusive copyright of that image and the right to publish it. You are purchasing the physical artwork. Traditionally this is handled with a severance fee. If you absolutely must, this is handled through our lawyer and can be pricey. You must be prepared to pay our legal fees for us to get it processed.

Of course if you should choose to use it as a web icon or something that is fine, provided you prominently link us, as is stated in the Art Usage Rules. We are generally cool with this as long as you are not making money off of our work.

A copy of the work will be retained by the artist for portfolio and web gallery use.
